Park – forest Gorica daily gathers a large number of citizens who come here for rest and recreation. However, in recent weeks, part of the urban furniture has been damaged. The Agency for the Management of Protected Areas of the Capital reacted immediately and restored the benches to make them safe for use again.
“The agency reacted in the shortest possible time. Of course, as soon as the damage was noticed. Our goal is to restore the functionality and safety of the benches to the citizens as soon as possible. Broken wooden slats have been repaired and replaced, and new ones have been installed, treated and painted, so they are now completely ready for use,” said Darija Ćetković from the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas for TV PG.
Although most visitors use this space responsibly, some individuals continue to cause damage. As a result, funds that could be invested in the development of new facilities are being spent on repairing the consequences of vandalism.
Rangers visit Gorica daily, and during the summer season, nature guards are also engaged, who are on duty 24 hours a day.
“Their role is crucial. We have excellent cooperation with visitors who regularly inform us about damages, inappropriate behavior, and other irregularities. This information is very important to us as it allows us to react quickly,” emphasizes Ćetković.
The Agency states that it will continue activities to protect and improve all protected areas in the coming period, with a constant presence of rangers and nature guards. They emphasize that responsible behavior of citizens is the best way to preserve Gorica, which represents one of the most important green lungs of Podgorica.
During the day, the results of the international project „Mysterious Danube“ will also be presented, through which numerous activities have been implemented to improve protected areas in Montenegro.
