The ballet "Cinderella" will be performed on Wednesday, July 1, at 9 PM, on the plateau in front of the Petrović Palace in Podgorica.

This is one of the most beloved works of the classical ballet repertoire, inspired by the famous fairy tale by Charles Perrault and the music of Sergei Prokofiev. In the choreography of Rudolf Nureyev, this performance brings an original and contemporary reading of the well-known story, setting the action in the world of Hollywood’s golden age, filled with film studios, spotlights, and stars of the big screen.

In Nureyev’s interpretation, Cinderella is not just a girl dreaming of love, but a young woman striving to achieve her dreams. Her fairy godmother becomes a film producer, while the prince is a charming, successful film actor. Through a story of hope, talent, and success, Cinderella finds her way from anonymity to stardom.

The performance also carries a strong autobiographical dimension, reminiscent of the life journey of Rudolf Nureyev – a young Tatar who became one of the greatest stars of world ballet. As a kind of ballet metaphor, this work also serves as a tribute to the artist who marked the history of the Paris Opera as its director and one of the most significant choreographers of the 20th century.

The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a blend of top-notch dance, lavish music, and cinematic aesthetics, in a production that uniquely connects the world of ballet and the seventh art.

The program is organized by the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City of Podgorica in collaboration with the French Institute and the Embassy of France in Montenegro.
