"After his arrest on the same day he was ordered to be detained, officers of the Nikšić Security Department, in accordance with the relevant decision ordering detention, took him to the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS) Spuž," the Police Directorate states.
JM, as suspected by the Police Directorate, committed the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and the continued criminal offense of smuggling. The above refers to a case under the jurisdiction of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, in which JM is charged with smuggling cigarettes in the territory of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a member of a criminal organization, together with other suspects.
"Previously, JM was, by a decision of the Higher Court in Podgorica dated 12.02.2026., terminated custody and was ordered to be placed under supervision - a ban on leaving the place of residence - of the Municipality of Nikšić and the obligation to periodically report to the Police Directorate - Security Department of Nikšić, every 1st of the month. The aforementioned decision on the imposition of a supervision measure was terminated and returned for reconsideration by a decision of the Court of Appeal dated 26.02.2026. The Criminal Pre-Trial Chamber of the Higher Court in Podgorica, in accordance with the aforementioned, on 06.03.2026., considering the case files and the reasons for termination of the Court of Appeal, issued a decision terminating the supervision measure and ordering custody for this person," the Police Directorate concluded.
