Bijelo Polje: Criminal charges filed for forest theft

Police officers from the Regional Security Center "North", conducting activities to suppress illegal exploitation and illegal activities in forestry (ecocide, forest theft, corruption in forestry, etc.), have filed a criminal complaint with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje against a person suspected of forest theft, the Police Directorate announced.

"Namely, this crime is being charged against the Bijelo Polje Police Department, which is suspected of having committed it by illegally cutting down a certain amount of birch trees in the state forest in Kleče at the beginning of April of this year," the Police Directorate said.

In this way, the Forestry and Hunting Authority caused damage to the Forest Management and Hunting Area Administration.

"Officers of the Regional Security Center "North" continue their activities in the fight against environmental crime, as one of the national priorities, as well as in preventing illegal logging, finding and prosecuting perpetrators of criminal acts, and in order to preserve the natural resources of Montenegro," the Police Directorate concluded in a statement.
