Montenegro has made an important step in modernizing its judicial system by acquiring the first AI server in the country intended for the development and implementation of advanced solutions in the field of justice based on artificial intelligence.

The NVIDIA DGX H200 server, with a total value of EUR 394,079, was purchased with financial support from the European Union within the project "Support to the Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights Sector - Implementation of a Unified Judicial Information System", implemented by UNOPS in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice.

"The acquisition of the first AI server represents an important step towards a modern, more efficient and transparent judiciary. This is not just a technological improvement, but a long-term investment in institutional capacities, strengthening the rule of law and the European perspective of Montenegro," stressed Minister of Justice Bojan Božović.

The deployment of state-of-the-art infrastructure within the Judicial Council data center provides judicial institutions with the capacity to train and use complex AI models, adapted to the national legal and institutional context, for the first time. This investment enables Montenegro to develop modern solutions for the judiciary within the institutions of the system, on a secure and controlled infrastructure, in accordance with national legislation, European regulations and best international practices.

"The European Union continues to support Montenegro in building modern and resilient institutions. Investing in advanced digital infrastructure for the judiciary demonstrates commitment to reforms, European standards and the responsible use of new technologies in the service of citizens. Ensuring adequate use of ICT systems to improve the functioning of the judicial system is also one of the main criteria for closing Chapter 23," emphasized EU Ambassador to Montenegro Johan Sattler.

The acquisition of AI servers supports the development of practical solutions for case law analysis, improved case management, optimization of work processes, and better access to justice, while fully respecting the independence of the judiciary, data protection, and fundamental human rights.

"UNOPS, as an implementing partner of the EU and the Ministry of Justice, is proud to contribute to strengthening the institutional capacities of Montenegro. This investment is an example of how innovations can be responsibly implemented in the public sector to improve access to justice for all citizens," said Mikela Telatin, UNOPS Director for South-East Europe.

The NVIDIA DGX H200 server is one of the world's most advanced platforms for developing and deploying artificial intelligence. It is based on the latest generation of graphics processors with extremely large memory and computing capacities, which allows processing large amounts of data and working with complex machine learning and deep learning models. Such infrastructure is necessary for training and using AI models in complex and sensitive systems such as justice, where accuracy, reliability and security are of paramount importance.
