The Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has officially announced that Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been suspended for 13 matches.

The severe sanction was imposed for a brutal physical attack on Huesca captain Jorge Pulido during the Aragon derby in the Spanish Second Division last weekend.

The Argentine goalkeeper, who had already received a yellow card, approached referee Damas Arsdian Monesillo to protest strongly. Andrada demanded that the referee use VAR to check a potential red card given to his teammate in the final minutes of the match.

Huesca captain Jorge Pulido reprimanded him for his aggressive protests, to which Andrada responded by pushing him away. For this move, the referee showed him a second yellow card, or red card.

After being sent off, the Argentine goalkeeper completely lost control and brutally punched the Blaugrana player in the face. According to the official report, the blow caused Pulido a "hematoma on his left cheekbone."

At its regular weekly meeting this Wednesday, the RFEF Disciplinary Committee made the final decision on the sanctions.

According to the RFEF Disciplinary Regulations, Andrada received a maximum 12-match suspension for physically attacking an opposing player, to which he was also given an additional one-match suspension as a result of receiving a second yellow card in the same match.

In addition to the official punishment from the federation, the club reacted promptly, suspending Andrada from all work duties and completely stopping his salary, effectively ending his career in Zaragoza.
