The list was published by travel platform Expedia in its report "Affordable Destinations 2026."
At the top of the list is Salvador, Brazil. The city is known for its golden sandy beaches, colorful houses, and a historic center filled with Baroque churches and art museums.

Salvador was the first capital of Brazil from 1549 to 1763, before Rio de Janeiro took over that role.
The old town of Pelourinho is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is known for its colorful colonial houses, cobblestone streets, and Baroque churches.
Salvador is considered the cultural heart of Afro-Brazilian tradition. Many elements of Brazilian culture originated here, including capoeira, Afro-Brazilian religions, and some traditional music.
The Carnival in Salvador is one of the largest in the world, and it is estimated that it attracts millions of visitors each year.
Salvador has more than 50 kilometers of coastline and numerous city beaches that are popular with locals and tourists.

Second place on the list is taken by Guadalajara in Mexico, an important financial and cultural center that will also be one of the host cities of the 2026 World Cup.
Along with Guadalajara, another Mexican city made the list – Merida, known for its blend of Mayan and colonial heritage. Two major South American metropolises were also among the top ten most affordable destinations: Bogota in Colombia and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Also on the list are popular Asian cities Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh, known for their vibrant nightlife and affordable street food.
The list is rounded out by Edmonton in Canada, nicknamed "Canada's festival city" due to its numerous events throughout the year, and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, one of the oldest cities in the Caribbean.
