Ipswich qualified for the Premier League as runners-up in the Championship and has 84 points, 11 less than Coventry, who previously won promotion to the elite rank.
Millwall, Southampton, Middlesbrough and Hull will play in the play-offs.
Millwall routinely defeated Oxford 2-0 at home, while Southampton defeated Preston (3-1) away, for whom Montenegrin striker Milutin Osmajić played in the last half hour. Our other national team player from Preston, Andrija Vukčević, played the entire 90 minutes.
Preston finished the season in 14th place with 60 points.
Middlesbrough drew 2-2 away against Wrexham, who finished the season in seventh place (71), and Hull beat Norwich 2-1 at home.
The first leg of the play-off semi-final between Hull and Millwall takes place on Friday, with Middlesbrough and Southampton taking on each other the following day. The second legs are on 11th and 12th May.
The play-off final is scheduled for May 23rd at Wembley.
Oxford United, Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday were relegated to the third division.
