As reported by the Kempten Police Presidency, the perpetrators targeted the entrance of the building with balloons filled, probably, with animal blood.
On that occasion, a wall about one and a half meters high, on which is the crescent symbol of the Turkish-Islamic community in Memmingen, was defaced.
In addition, the attackers placed a severed pig's head on the crescent moon itself, further desecrating the religious symbol. A nearby parcel station was also damaged during the incident.
The perpetrators fled and have not yet been identified.
The case was taken over by the Constitutional Protection Department of the Memmingen Criminal Police, which is investigating the suspected extremist-motivated crime. Evidence was collected at the scene.
After the investigation, fire department members and city administration workers cleaned the entrance area of the mosque and the surrounding area. The investigation is ongoing.
