This will be the first action for coach Didier Dinar's team after EHF Euro 2026, which they finished in the group stage.
The matches against Finland are scheduled for March 19 in Vantaa and three days later in Podgorica. Finland was also the opponent in the qualifiers for the last European Championship and our national team won both times – 29:28 in Podgorica and 33:28 in Vantaa.
If they are better than the team from northern Europe in the upcoming two-match series, the "lions" will play Slovenia in the play-offs in May, which will be the decisive matches for their place in the planetary competition.
For the upcoming doubleheader against Finland, coach Dinar is counting on 18 players. 12 of them played at EHF Euro 2026, and the only debutant is Buducnost defender Emir Đulović.
Montenegro will be stronger for the goalkeeping duo Nebojša Simić – Nikola Matović, after both recovered from serious injuries and returned to the field, as well as for Aleksandar Bakić, who missed the January European Championship due to health problems.
Compared to the team that played at the European Championship, Vuk Borozan and Stevan Vujović are out due to injuries, while former captain Mirko Radović has ended his international career. There is also no central defender Miloš Božović, who has not yet recovered from the injury that caused him to miss EHF Euro 2026. Left back Arsenije Dragašević has been ruled out of the upcoming two-legged tie for the same reason.

The national team will gather on Monday, March 16th in Podgorica, with a trip to Finland planned the day after.
