Mišković: DNP cannot be with DPS, that would be their political end

Goran Mišković, a councilor for the Europe Now Movement in the Capital, stated in a guest appearance on the RTV Podgorica show Pressing that the standard of living of Montenegrin citizens is significantly better than in the previous period. As he stated, cumulative inflation was around 30 percent, but at the same time salaries and pensions were growing, which mitigated the impact of inflation on citizens.

Mišković pointed out that today one can live modestly on two minimum pensions, which, according to him, was not the case before. He criticized the narrative of the Democratic Party of Socialists that people lived better with significantly lower incomes, stating that such claims are unfounded.

Montenegro close to EU goal, but reforms and stability key to continuing the path

Speaking about the economic situation, he pointed out that basic costs, such as electricity, have not increased significantly, while fuel and food prices have increased, but with an increase in population incomes.

United Montenegro official Dejan Bošković adds that there is no need to refer to previous periods, because, as he says, the fact is that the previous period was catastrophic.

"The fact is that with those minimum pensions, one could not live in a dignified manner, but below all dignity. But the fact is that today, with two minimum pensions, one cannot really live with dignity or even close to any dignity, because we also take into account that we have tens of thousands of pensioners, so let's see how many pensioners are among those pensioners, and you look at the price of rent," Bošković points out.

He states that these topics need to be discussed, because if they are not, there will be no room for progress.

"So we have a lot of pensioners who live alone, so see now with 450 euros whether a person can live on that. We need to talk about it because if we don't talk about it like that then we won't have room for progress. We must not stop there, on Europe now 1, on Europe now 2, this country has the potential for Europe now 3, 4 and 5," said Bošković.

He also points out that someone got rich in the previous period, and that billions were taken out of the state, while we, as he states, live below the European average.

"And today they are expecting a representative of the Greens from Austria to come again, who, I think, only has two MPs in some regional parliaments in Austria, that is Mr. Thomas Weiss. So he doesn't ask anything in his own country, but he comes to Montenegro and says how we should function. Well, you know, there are some new currents coming from Austria, and also from Germany, and even from France," said Bošković.

Commenting on the current political situation in Podgorica, Mišković said that it is a "territory of politics", and that it is evident that there is currently no stable majority, but the other side, as he says, cannot form one either. He emphasized that nothing has fundamentally changed compared to the previous period, and reminded that the elections are scheduled by law for June 13 next year.

He believes that calling early elections at this time would not be rational, because, as he states, the campaign would last until the summer and could halt the development of the capital and slow down European integration.
"I don't see the point of calling for elections other than to score petty political points," he said, adding that he believes citizens will recognize this.

Mišković stressed that PES will not obstruct the processes, but will abide by the law. He added that they are open to discussions on all topics, including consultations on the election of the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, but that they will not participate in, as he put it, the politicking of opposition parties.

Mišković believes that the Democratic People's Party will not enter into political combinations with the DPS nor will it vote for the dismissal of Jelena Borovinić Bojović.

"Their program is based on opposing that party. That would be their political end. I don't see that the members of that party have that kind of character. If they couldn't come to an agreement with us, I don't see how they could come to an agreement with DPS," Mišković assessed.
