Krnić pointed out that it is even more problematic that part of the ruling coalition apparently sees this crisis as an opportunity for its own international positioning. Foreign policy is not a PR tool, but a space where the principles and credibility of the state are defended. This approach undermines both.
"Equally important is how Montenegro values the events in Gaza. The lack of a clear position in a situation that has serious humanitarian and legal implications further compromises the credibility of our state policy in international relations," said Krnić.
Krnić emphasizes that if membership in the European Union is a real goal, then harmonization with its foreign policy is not an option, but an obligation. Ignoring serious accusations and continuing to plan military cooperation sends the message that political interests come before the values that Montenegro formally represents.
"The policy of 'waiting for conditions' is just another name for avoiding responsibility. Montenegro must clearly demonstrate whether it belongs to the European system of values or is pursuing an ad hoc policy without principles," Krnić concluded in the statement.
