Šušić states that he has never been in a situation to make a compromise that would imply giving up something.
"I try to be myself as much as possible in my appearances and in what I do, whether as a member of the Assembly, or as a councilor, or as a lawyer, or as a parent, or as someone who tries to maintain a household in the countryside. Of course, the situation requires a different approach to the discussion and a different way of communicating, but essentially - that's what people know about me," said Šušić.
Šušić is a lawyer, councilor, head of the New Serbian Democracy councilors' club, author and, more recently, host of the podcast "Stega", stating that he spends most of his energy on the work of a councilor.
"I still have work to do. The ASK could say something about that, since they don't agree with my taking on the responsibilities. Maybe I don't need the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to know that I can't achieve everything. I'm really tired in a certain segment of having too many responsibilities. Perhaps the function of councilor exhausts me the most and that's something I would prefer to replace, or leave to someone else at this point," said Šušić.
According to him, the situation in Podgorica, since he has been a councilor, has not been brought to such a point, from the point of view of the functioning of the councilor majority, that he could say that there is a healthy relationship, reliable partners and that they are in a position to gain some momentum and work for the benefit of the citizens.
"It's always a situation where everything is tense - do we have a majority, do we have support, how will we present it to the citizens. For me, this principle of non-aggression is not something I entered politics for. I actually entered politics with the desire to be an opposition activist or to be in a position to say something, but it happened that the government changed during those years," said Šušić.
The problem with democracy, he points out, is that it is difficult to carry out a useful initiative to the end without being populist at the same time.
"There always has to be a calculation of how it will work and how someone will attack you because of it, and that way of doing politics makes me quite tired," Šušić pointed out.
He states that he has never been in a situation to make a compromise that would imply giving up something.
"Politics has enough actors that something can happen in politics even without Mitar Šušić, if it is known that I would not support it. There were situations when I voted against the majority to which I belong, when I proposed amendments that did not pass. I remained completely consistent with the urge to maintain what is my view on a topic," said Šušić.
According to him, society primarily lacks the awareness that there is a universal system of rules and an absolute categorical moral imperative that is not subject to fluctuation depending on whether it is useful to us or not.
"In law and politics, there is a lack of awareness that not everything is permitted and not everything is as we agree, but that there is a set of rules that should not be changed," said Šušić.
He also emphasizes that as a lawyer, he does not take on cases that he cannot personally defend, and that this is a measure of personal comfort.
In the show Iz drugo ugla, Šušić spoke about growing up, childhood, as well as life habits, hobbies, family and how he spends his free time.
