"Over the weekend, officers of the Police Directorate conducted planned preventive activities in the territory of most municipalities in Montenegro, aimed at increased control of persons of operational interest (OIL) and members of organized criminal groups (OKG), with special emphasis on maintaining stable public order and peace, improving road traffic safety, preventing the commission of criminal offenses and misdemeanors, identifying perpetrators of criminal offenses, as well as finding objects that originate from criminal offenses or can be used to commit them," the police said.
During inspections in several municipalities, three minors were found consuming alcoholic beverages in catering establishments, as well as seven foreign citizens who did not have registered residence in accordance with the law.
"In relation to minors caught consuming alcohol, police officers have filed requests with the competent misdemeanor court to initiate misdemeanor proceedings in accordance with Article 37 of the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence against parents for neglecting minors. Appropriate requests have also been filed against the responsible and legal entities of catering establishments to initiate misdemeanor proceedings in accordance with Article 127 of the Law on Tourism and Hospitality, in cooperation with the Tourist Inspection," the police said.
As part of the activities, psychoactive substances – narcotics, as well as objects suitable for attack (knives and hand sprays with irritating effects) were found and seized. The competent state prosecutor was informed about the events.
"The Police Directorate will continue to implement these and similar preventive and repressive activities in the coming period," they conclude in the statement.
