Final before the final: PSG welcomes Bayern

Paris Saint-Germain will host Bayern Munich tonight in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

To reach a second successive final, PSG must overcome the team that has given them the most trouble in recent seasons. Bayern won 2-1 in the fourth round of the group stage, the German champions' fifth consecutive victory over the defending champions in the Champions League. However, PSG can point to a similar situation to last season. Luis Enrique's team lost 2-0 to Arsenal in the second round of the 2024/25 season, but defeated them 3-1 in the semi-finals.

This will be the 16th meeting between PSG and Bayern in the Champions League, with the German team holding a 9:6 advantage in wins.

The two teams have met three times in the knockout stage so far – Bayern won the 2020 final (1-0) and the 2022/23 round of 16 (3-0 on aggregate), while PSG advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2020/21 season on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw. ; The French team has won just three of its last 11 UEFA matches against German teams. PSG also face a German team in the Champions League semi-finals for the third time, having beaten Leipzig in the 2019/20 season and losing to Borussia Dortmund in the 2023/24 season.

Paris Saint-Germain reached the semi-finals for the third season in a row, something no French club has ever achieved in either the European Cup or Champions League era.

If they win tomorrow in Paris, it would be their 100th Champions League win, making them the first French club to reach that milestone.

On the other hand, Bayern have won 14 of their last 16 UEFA matches against French opponents (two losses).

The Bavarian team has reached its 22nd Champions League/Champions Cup semi-final and has made it to the grand final 11 times so far. However, they have only won one of their last six Champions League semi-final matches.

The match is scheduled for 9:00 PM.
