According to Monstat data, the highest average salary in Montenegro is for the citizens of Tivat, 1213 euros, and the lowest for the residents of Gusinje, 844 euros. This means that the difference in average salaries is as much as 369 euros. Statistics say that the highest-paid residents are the residents of the coast and central region, because the average salaries in Zeta are 1125, Podgorica 1079, and over 1000 euros are earned by the residents of Budva, Kotor and Nikšić. In the north, only in Pljevlja does the average salary exceed 1000 euros, while in the other 18 municipalities it is below that amount.
Data shows that the average salary in 22 municipalities is below the national level. The lowest salaries, besides Gusinje, are in Andrijevica 857, Petnjica 858, Bijelo Polje 861, and Rožaje and Tuzi 867. In light of the war in the Middle East and the increase in oil prices, our fellow citizens are most concerned about the rise in food prices, which are still expensive, according to citizens, and the increase in salaries is not keeping up with food prices.
Monstat data also reveals large differences in salaries and between sectors of activity. The highest net earnings this month were recorded again by the financial sector, where the average exceeded 1,600 euros. On the other hand, the lowest salaries were recorded by employees in administrative and support activities, as well as in arts and recreation, where average earnings were between 840 and 900 euros. Salary growth in February was recorded in energy, mining and education, while the largest decline was reported in agriculture and services. The conclusion of the statistics for February is clear: salaries remain stable on paper, but purchasing power is weakening slightly.
