Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the country is waiting for the green light from the United States to assassinate Iran's new supreme leader.

"We are waiting for the green light from the United States, first and foremost, to complete the elimination of the Khamenei dynasty, the initiators of the plan to destroy Israel, as well as the successors to the leadership of the Iranian terrorist regime," he said.

He added that Israel's desire is also to push Iran back into the "dark ages" by destroying key energy and electrical facilities and "crushing its national economic infrastructure."

Recall, the fighting between the Americans and Israelis on one side and the Iranians on the other, stopped in early April. US President Donald Trump announced earlier this week that the ceasefire was being extended until the Iranians send a "unified proposal" for a peace agreement. Before that, the Iranians refused to participate in a new round of negotiations with the Americans until they unblocked Iranian ports.

On the first day of this war, a US-Israeli attack killed the then Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as numerous members of his family. His son Mojtaba Khamenei, who had since assumed the position of the new Supreme Leader, suffered serious injuries in the same attack from which he is still recovering today.
