Kažić dismissed, the future at a major turning point

Kazic

The story that was opened in Buducnost at the end of March is now, at least in part, finally closed.

Predrag Kažić is formally the former executive director of the Podgorica club, which completes the process that the public followed in several stages: from the first hint of dismissal, through the decision of the Board of Directors, to today's confirmation, which, as things stand, was awaiting the final formality.

RTCG announced on March 25th that Kažić was about to be dismissed and that the topic of a strategic partner was being raised in the same package, while on April 9th it was already announced that the Board of Directors had dismissed him due to, as stated, a series of shortcomings in his work.

That is precisely why today's confirmation is not just news about a personnel cut, but also the end of a story that has been hanging for too long between the decision and its full formalization.

Kažić claimed that he had not received any decision on the dismissal, and that the problem was that the club's president, Boris Spalević, was not present at the meeting where the dismissal was voted on, whose signature was necessary to complete the matter. With Spalević's presence today, that procedural circle has, by all accounts, been closed.

But in Buducnost, the story that goes with it is perhaps more important than Kažić's dismissal itself. Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović said on April 9 that talks with a potential strategic partner for FK Buducnost have begun, which means that the club is not just looking for a new name for a position, but is also considering a serious shift in its management model.

In this context, the name of Sergei Lomakin, a Russian businessman with connections to Paphos, is already being mentioned, unofficially.

On the official website of the Cypriot club, Lomakin was previously listed as the president of Pafos, the Cypriot sensation, which was part of the Champions League this season, which automatically gives that name additional weight in any story about a possible entry into Buducnost.

However, this is where the story becomes sensitive. Because it is one thing to bring in a strategic partner, and quite another to completely hand over the club to one center of power.

According to information that has not been officially confirmed, there is no full unity within the Board of Directors on this very issue.

This fits in with the earlier picture from the club's top brass, as it was already obvious that the battle over our most trophy-winning club, which is still seen as political prey, is still ongoing.

That's why Budućnost today didn't just formalize the departure of one executive director.

The future has reached a point where it must answer a much bigger question: does it want just a new distribution of functions or a completely new way of running the club? And when Sergey Lomakin, a man linked to Pafos who played in the Champions League this season, is mentioned in this story, then it is no longer a simple internal reshuffle, but a decision that could change the identity and direction of the entire club.
