The Montenegrin cadet football team is embarking on a new challenge today - competing at the European Championship.

At the start of the EURO, which is being held in Estonia, Radovan Kavaja's team will meet Denmark.

The match at the Kadriorg Stadium in Tallinn starts at 6 pm Montenegrin time (7 pm local time).

– We were exceptional in that preliminary round of qualifications and now we are here where we are the cream of European football. We are aware that we got here thanks to quality, we are also aware that we have reason to think positively. We want to be competitive with all teams and in every game, and of course to learn and exchange experiences so that we can be as good as possible in the future, said coach Kavaja.

The Falcons had their last training session on Monday ahead of the match against Denmark.

– Everyone is healthy and, most importantly, in the mood and determined to give their best and try to push our limits one step further, added Kavaja.

The coach doesn't want to think too much about the remaining rivals in the group.

– Now I only see Denmark, who are our first rivals, then maybe half Italy and only an "F" from France. I think we all think that way. Denmark is a quality team, we followed them a bit and tried to see how they do it. I think there are moments that can be useful for us and, if we take advantage of that, we can hope for a favorable result, explained Kavaja.

The pillar of defense, Lazar Popović, promised great fighting spirit for the "falcons".

– We will do everything we can in agreement with the coaching staff. In every game we have played so far, we have always given our maximum, and that will always be the case. We have analyzed some of Denmark's games and seen that they are an excellent team. The Danes are very strong physically, I think that is their greatest quality. It is also important to reduce the number of mistakes, because opponents like Denmark and the others from our group always punish that. But we have also shown that we know how to deal with big teams. We have beaten Norway, Greece, Italy... All of this shows that we have the quality for big things, said Popović.

The two best teams from the group advance to the semifinals.

As a reminder, the cadets became our first football team to qualify for a major competition, and after the Euros, the "falcons" are also expected to compete at the World Cup in the fall.
