The Minister of Energy and Mining of Montenegro, Admir Šahmanović, met with the United States Ambassador to Croatia, Nikola McGraw, on the sidelines of the Three Seas Initiative Summit and Business Forum.
During the meeting, discussions focused on improving energy security, strengthening regional connectivity, and the possibilities for implementing joint projects, with a particular focus on the Adriatic-Ionian corridor.
"The interlocutors also reviewed the results that Montenegro has achieved in the previous period in the field of energy - the launch of the process of connecting the domestic electricity market with the Italian market, the continuation of activities on the implementation of the second strand of the submarine cable to Italy, as well as the intensification of investments in the transmission network and new energy capacities," the statement said.
Šahmanović expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation through, as stated, the existing economic dialogue, as well as towards the signing of a government-to-government agreement between Montenegro and the United States of America.
Ambassador McGraw presented potential areas of cooperation related to the possibility of joining a regional initiative to strengthen the energy stability of the region, bringing investors to develop a data center in Montenegro, as well as investments in tourism infrastructure, including the development of golf courses.
"The interlocutors assessed that there is significant room for further improvement of the partnership and the implementation of specific investment projects that can contribute to the economic development of Montenegro, additional strengthening of the energy sector and stronger regional positioning of the country," the statement concluded.
