Reports of bombs in educational institutions most affect teaching staff who are directly responsible for evacuating students, according to sociologist Krsto Vuković. He states that, in addition to minors sending threatening emails to avoid obligations, other motives should also be considered.
"It could also be interesting for criminal structures, because significant police forces are being deployed in a short period of time. This phenomenon should also be viewed from that perspective, and it could also be a dirty political game that causes a sense of insecurity and instability," says sociologist Krsto Vuković.
Society is obliged to respond adequately in a short period of time, says Vuković. He emphasizes that a change in legislation is necessary.
"If it were made known in society that there are draconian penalties, 20 thousand euros for parents or a prison sentence, they would be more present, at least in terms of their attitude towards school," said Vuković.
However, he says there is no guarantee that punishments will bear fruit. The problem, he says, is that authority in our society is meaningless.
"In general, everything in the country is questionable because it does not start from a position of respect and appreciation, where someone believes that it simply won't be a big deal if they do such a thing, but it is a big deal if the system is paralyzed and people are prevented from doing what they are paid to do," said Vuković.
That is why, he argues, a broader social response is necessary – to strengthen the educational system and the family, with the indispensable role of the media. We need to be more human, and less profit-oriented individuals that were spawned by cruel capitalism, he said.
