For the second year in a row, the Municipality of Bar has provided financial support for housing for young people without parental care, who have met the conditions for independent living after leaving a foster family.

“The measure, which was implemented for the first time last year, is part of the continuous activities of the Municipality aimed at improving social policy and providing support to particularly vulnerable categories of the population. Four users have exercised the right to this type of support in the current year, for whom, in accordance with the law, the family accommodation service is being terminated,” it was announced by the Municipality of Bar.

As added, the Municipality of Bar has provided them with financial assistance in the amount of 350 euros per month, for a duration of 12 months, in order to ease their transition to independence and create conditions for a safer and more stable start to independent living, as well as economic and social integration.

The President of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević, emphasized that this measure represents an expression of the responsible attitude of the local government.

“It is our obligation to provide security and support to young people exiting the system during one of the most important periods of their lives. Through such measures, Bar positions itself as a city that cares for its citizens, confirming that programs like these are the standard of responsible social policy,” Raičević stated.

For the record, last year three young users had the right to this support, making Bar one of the first local governments in Montenegro to establish this type of institutional support after leaving a home or foster family, creating conditions for a more inclusive and socially responsible local community.
