Although Telegram regularly releases monthly updates, the new March 2026 release brings several changes that will be especially important to users who care about the security of their data, as well as those who use the app for business communication.
The biggest novelty, which will probably attract the most attention, is the possibility of prohibiting the sharing of content in private chats.
This option, which was previously only available for groups and channels, is now coming to direct "1 on 1" conversations.
However, there is a catch – the feature is reserved exclusively for Telegram Premium users.
When activated, the message recipient loses the ability to: Forward your messages to others; Save photos and videos to their device; Take a screenshot of the chat.
For those active in large communities, Telegram has introduced custom tags (Member Tags). Now, next to your name in the group, you can have a tag that indicates your role, hobby, or any information you want to introduce yourself. Group administrators will also be pleased with a more detailed view of polls - it is now possible to see the exact time when each member cast their vote.

Users can now add captions directly to GIFs, as well as edit them later in the built-in editor. Also, with a single tap on a photo, the app can now automatically “cut out” the object and create a sticker, which you can then further decorate with text or emojis.
Another useful feature is date and time recognition within messages. If someone sends you “see you on Tuesday at 6pm,” that text will become interactive – clicking on it will automatically create an event or reminder in your calendar.
The update has already started rolling out to users and should be available to everyone in the coming days via app stores on Android and iOS platforms, as well as for desktop versions (Windows, macOS, and Linux).
