Red Star Belgrade have defended their Serbian championship title. After missing the first match ball to seal the trophy in the last round in Pančevo, they did not miss the second - in the 179th Eternal Derby, they defeated Partizan at the “Marakana” (3:0) and mathematically secured a new crown, four rounds before the end of the Serbian Super League.

This is the ninth consecutive title for the "Red and Whites", and the 37th in total in the club's history.

For the third time this season, Red Star emerged victorious against a bitter rival in as many matches, and the second time in a row with an identical result.

A point was enough for Aleksandar Katai and his teammates today, but it is clear that there were no calculations and that a derby is always a derby.

The first major excitement came in the 13th minute – Aleksandar Katai tried, but goalkeeper Marko Milošević was sure of it.

Just two minutes later, Red Star threatened again, this time from a counterattack, but Nikola Simić blocked Katai at the last moment.

However, in the 19th minute, the "red and white" took a well-deserved lead. After a break from the right, Katai crossed into the box, and Strahinja Eraković scored from close range into the unguarded net.

Shortly afterwards, Vasilije Kostov tried twice, but both times Milošević made excellent saves.

In the 29th minute, Katai almost doubled the lead, and a few seconds later Demba Sek had a chance, but Mateus came out in time and thwarted his attempt.

After that, the "black and whites" were relieved of the pressure, and in the finish of the first half, Milan Vukotić and Bogdan Kostić had good chances or attempts, but there was no change in the result.

Red Star's advantage was doubled in the 69th minute by 18-year-old Adem Avdić. Kostov crossed from the right, Simić intervened, but only to Avdić, who checked Milošević from ten meters away.

After that, both teams missed several good chances, and then the South Korean team Seoul put an end to the match after a great pass from Timi Elsnik.

Vukotić played the entire match, as did Milan Roganović, while Andrej Kostić came on in the 70th minute for Bogdan. Stefan Milić was not on the roster for the match due to injury.

Partizan remained second in the standings with 65 points, but could be overtaken by Vojvodina (two points behind), which hosts Železničar tonight.

Red Star will play away to Čukarički in the next round, while before that, they will face Jedinstvo in Ub in the Cup semi-finals in four days. Partizan will host Novi Pazar in the next round.
