Matea Pletikosić reflected on the shocking defeat in Iceland.
"Of course, no one expected it to be an easy game, but we didn't expect this defeat either, it happened, but what is there is there. We have to hold our heads high, come together, go out on Sunday and show our energy, desire, will and prove that we are definitely better than them. We are playing in Podgorica, this is our home and we have to show who is the boss here," said Matea.
With a victory, the "Lionesses" would come one step closer to their goal – to qualify for the ninth consecutive European Championship.
"I don't think anything is lost, we know it isn't, but it's still better when we win games like that. Maybe it's good sometimes as a warning, but of course it's not pleasant. I sincerely hope that we will go out on the field on Sunday and show our character and that it will certainly be a better game," said the 27-year-old handball player from Sinj.
The biggest problem in Iceland was the lack of energy.
"The biggest problem in Iceland was our energy, desire and will, that's perhaps crucial for us, our character when we go out on the field. Of course, there are always some segments that are a little worse, when you miss some shots, which is sometimes crucial. Maybe we got into their rhythm, I think that was the deciding factor. There are always some ups and downs in a game, our energy was perhaps not at the level it usually is."
The match at the "Bemax Arena" will be played tomorrow, starting at 6 p.m.
