This was decided by the draw in Katowice, where 🇲🇪 Montenegro was in the second pot.
Hungary is the bronze medalist from the last EHF Euro 2024, but also a tailor-made opponent from the first pot, which featured much stronger rivals.
🇸🇮 Slovenia, led by our former coach Dragan Adžić, is a tricky opponent from the third pot, which had more desirable rivals.
Iceland was the opponent in the qualifying group for EHF Euro 2026, and the “Lionesses” will have the opportunity to avenge the only defeat they suffered in the qualifiers. There were tougher rivals in the fourth pot.
The top 2 teams from the group will advance to the main round.
If they qualify for the top 12 in Europe, coach Suzana Lazović's team will play in the main round in Cluj-Napoca with the two best teams from Groups B, which includes Norway, Romania, Switzerland and North Macedonia, and C, which includes Denmark, Spain, Turkey and Greece.
The European Championship is scheduled for December 3-20.
Montenegro schedule:
December 3 Montenegro – Iceland
December 5th Montenegro – Slovenia
December 7th Montenegro – Hungary
