"Sharks" sink France and check visa for Sydney

The Montenegrin water polo team has advanced to the final of the qualifying World Cup in Malta, thus securing a place in the final tournament of this competition.

The "Sharks" justified their role as favorites and defeated the French team 15:11 (4:2, 6:3, 2:2, 3:4).

Montenegro will play against the winner of the second semi-final between Georgia and Germany in tomorrow's final. This match will also be of great importance, as the winner will secure a place in the A division.

Dejan Savić's team took a 2:0 lead with goals from Balša Vučković and Strahinja Gojković. However, the "tricolors" quickly came back and equalized through Thomas Vernoux and Vitran. At the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter, our national team went on a 5:0 run to reach 7:2. France came close to 7:4, but Miroslav Perković and Vasilije Radović scored five goals before the break (10:5).

In the third quarter, the defense was dominant, both teams scored two goals each, so Montenegro still had a huge five-goal advantage after 24 minutes – 12:7.

The French threatened with just over two minutes left, cutting the lead to 13:11, but Nikola Moskov scored two goals and broke the deadlock.

The most efficient player in the winning team was Nikola Moskov with six goals. Balša Vučković added three, and Miorslav Perković two. Petar Tešanović had nine successful interventions.

On the other side, Tom Verna led the way with seven goals.

The World Cup final tournament is played in Sydney from July 22nd to 26th.
