The statement states that the working meeting was attended by members of the Delegation to PAM Boris Mugosa as well as representatives of diplomatic and consular missions of PAM partner countries in Montenegro, the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Stefan Dimitrov, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic H.E. Eva Ponomarenkova, Ambassador of Ukraine H.E. By Herasimenko (By Herasymenko), Mrs. Sara Pilbim (Sarah Pilbeam), Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as Ms. Nikol Otala (Nicole Otallah), Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy in Podgorica.
The Head of the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the PAM, Dejan Đurović, informed the present representatives of the diplomatic corps about the current reform processes in Montenegro, with a special focus on the progress achieved in the European integration process, emphasizing the commitment of the Parliament of Montenegro to fulfilling the obligations from the negotiation process and reaching the final stage of accession to the European Union. In this context, he emphasized the importance of continued support from partner countries, especially through strengthening parliamentary cooperation within the PAM, as well as through the exchange of experiences and good practices that contribute to the further improvement of democratic standards, the rule of law and institutional stability. He also pointed out that the upcoming PAM plenary session represents an important opportunity for Montenegro to further affirm itself as a credible and reliable partner, ready to actively contribute to regional and international cooperation in the spirit of European values.
Đurović emphasized that this significant anniversary represents both a great honor and responsibility for Montenegro, but also an opportunity to present to international partners the concrete results achieved within the framework of the European agenda. He emphasized that the presence of high-ranking parliamentary delegations, including the presidents of parliaments of numerous European countries, will further confirm Montenegro's credibility as a country that, in the final phase of negotiations with the EU, is demonstrating progress in fulfilling its negotiating obligations and political maturity. In this sense, the upcoming gathering will be used as a platform for strengthening political dialogue, exchanging experiences and providing additional support for the country's reform priorities.
The interlocutors agreed that different political positions and perspectives, both at the national and international levels, do not represent an obstacle, but rather the essence of democratic and political pluralism which, through dialogue and an institutional framework, leads to better and more sustainable solutions. It was emphasized that precisely such a diversity of political approaches, which is particularly pronounced in the Mediterranean and European space, should be understood as an advantage and potential for strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation. In this context, the importance of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean as a platform that enables a constructive exchange of different positions and contributes to building consensus on key issues was emphasized, thereby further strengthening democratic processes, stability and common development of the region.
