During the meeting with the citizens present, Bečić said that throughout its almost 11 years of existence, Democratic Montenegro has faced the most difficult political challenges, numerous pressures and attacks, but that despite this, it has remained consistent with the values for which it was founded. He pointed out that attacks on the Democrats, their MPs, members of the Government and representatives of the security sector have been intensifying in recent weeks, precisely because of the determined fight against organized crime.
"It has always been our responsibility to carry the most difficult processes and to be under attack, but that has not shaken us. On the contrary, it is only confirmation that we are doing the right thing and that we are on the right path," Bečić emphasized.
He said that the key goal of current politics is the final victory over organized crime, and that the laws that are passed are not in the function of anyone's personal interests, but exclusively in the interests of the state and its citizens.
Speaking about the results, he pointed out that in Montenegro it is clearly shown for the first time that there are no untouchable and protected individuals, and that the structures of organized crime are being systematically dismantled.
"Today in Montenegro there are no longer those who are above the law. Myths are being destroyed, criminal structures are falling and the state is finally showing its strength. That is precisely why there is panic and attacks on the Democrats, because they know that they can neither scare nor blackmail us," said Bečić.
He added that, in addition to the results in the fight against crime, there are also significant developments on the country's European path. According to him, the messages coming from Brussels and representatives of the European Commission confirm that Montenegro is the most advanced candidate for membership in the European Union and that it is implementing visible reforms.
"While some are trying to present us in a different way, international partners clearly see the results. Montenegro is today taking strong steps towards the European Union," concluded Bečić in his address to the members present, after which they also discussed current local issues and ideas that are important for the development of Nikšić.
