The police point out that these are coordinated actions carried out across the country.
"In order to raise the level of security, and in accordance with the national priority of suppressing violence and incidents related to weapons, since the beginning of the year, Police Directorate officers have conducted 452 searches of members of organized criminal groups, persons of operational interest, persons associated with them, and citizens suspected of being connected to the possible commission of criminal offenses," the statement said.
They emphasize that illegal weapons pose a serious security risk.
"The Police Directorate has clearly shown that the fight against illegal weapons is one of the absolute priorities in the work of all organizational units, bearing in mind that weapons held illegally by citizens represent one of the key security risks to lives and the overall stability of society," the police point out.
According to their data, the results are "concrete and measurable."
"A total of 338 weapons and 8,651 pieces of ammunition were seized," the statement specified.
In addition, significant quantities of hazardous materials were removed from illegal flows.
"144 pieces of explosives, 15 mines and explosive devices, 2,950 grams of commercial explosives, as well as 500 grams of gunpowder were seized," the statement said.
The Police Directorate also points out the importance of cooperation with citizens through preventive actions.
"Through the 'Respect Life - Return Weapons' campaign, 181 weapons and 2,206 pieces of ammunition of various calibers were voluntarily surrendered, further reducing the risk of misuse," the police said.
