"Thus, during April, a series of joint, coordinated activities were carried out, within which a large number of freight vehicles and drivers were inspected, as well as visits to locations where illegal forest exploitation was recorded," the UP stated.
They point out that during a targeted control carried out in the town of Orah, a person named VT (58) from Nikšić was controlled, during which it was determined that the named person had illegally cut down domestic firewood in a state forest. By order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić, criminal charges will be filed against VT on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of forest theft.
"In one of the inspections conducted, in the town of Kunovo, a cargo motor vehicle driven by NB (55) from Nikšić was inspected. On that occasion, it was determined that the named person was transporting a certain amount of domestic firewood without the necessary documentation. The forestry inspection issued him a misdemeanor order, imposing a fine of 1,000 euros, for committing a misdemeanor under Article 89, paragraph 1 of the Forestry Law," the UP emphasized.

Also, they add, within the framework of the above activities in Nikšić, a control of a freight motor vehicle driven by MT (35) from Nikšić was carried out. On that occasion, it was determined that the named person was transporting domestic firewood without the necessary documentation, for which reason the vehicle was temporarily seized from him and handed over to the Forestry Administration for further jurisdiction. At the same time, the forestry inspection issued him a misdemeanor order, imposing a fine of 1,000 euros, for committing a misdemeanor under Article 89, paragraph 1 of the Forestry Law.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center "West", in cooperation with competent authorities and inspections, continue with intensive controls and increased field activities until the end of the heating season, taking measures to suppress illegal forest exploitation and other illegal activities in forestry, as well as to detect and prevent criminal acts in the field of environmental crime, with the aim of protecting forest resources," the Police Directorate concluded in a statement.
