Criminal charges against Serbian citizen for extortion

Officers of the Danilovgrad Security Department will today, upon the order of the State Prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, file a criminal complaint against a prisoner from the Republic of Serbia who is in the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of attempted extortion to the detriment of a citizen of Kosovo, according to a statement from the Police Administration.

"Namely, on March 27, 2026, the police officers of the Danilovgrad Security Department were informed by the management of the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, through the duty service, that they were contacted by prisoner ER (39), a citizen of Kosovo, stating that another prisoner, whom he does not know, had sent him serious threats to his life and body if he did not pay him money in the amount of 700 euros in the name of the person BM, which was delivered to him in writing, on paper," the police said.

The competent prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of the event, who issued specific orders to police officers regarding the taking of further measures and actions. Acting on these orders, officers of the Criminal Police of the Danilovgrad Security Department, in cooperation with officers of the UIKS, took measures and actions within their jurisdiction, based on which they identified the second prisoner BM (29), a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, from whom the necessary information was collected.

"After all measures and actions were taken, information was collected and criminal investigation was conducted, the competent prosecutor declared that the case was a criminal offense of attempted extortion, and ordered that criminal charges be filed against BM and all case files be submitted for further action under the jurisdiction of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica," the police concluded.
