Montenegro among the rainiest countries in Europe

Montenegro is at the top of the list of the rainiest countries in Europe, writes the portal punkufer.dnevnik.hr.

According to that media outlet, 1,525 mm of rain fell in Montenegro in 2025.

The reason for this, as stated by this portal, lies in Montenegro's position along the Adriatic and the mountains that "catch" moisture from the air. Moist sea air encounters the Orjen massif above Boka Kotorska, where it rises sharply and turns into heavy rainfall, which is why some areas record up to five thousand millimeters of rain per year. It is precisely these extremely rainy parts that strongly raise the overall average of the country. Crkvice in the hinterland of Boka is also known as the place with the highest rainfall in Europe.
