Legendary Argentine football player Lionel Messi has become the owner of Spanish football club Cornella, the fifth-tier club announced today.

"The arrival of Messi marks the beginning of a new chapter in the club's history. The project is driven by a long-term vision and strategic plan that combines ambition, sustainability and a strong connection to local roots," the Barcelona club said in a statement.

As they pointed out, this move "reinforces Messi's close ties with Barcelona and his commitment to developing sports and local talent in Catalonia."

Messi, who plays for Inter Miami, has won ten Spanish titles and four Champions League titles with Barcelona.

Cornella was founded in 1951, and its most famous players throughout history are Arsenal goalkeeper David Raja and former Barcelona defender Jordi Alba.
