Marcelo Bielsa has selected 26 players with whom Uruguay will go to the 2026 World Cup. The list doesn't bring many big surprises, but one name in particular stands out.

Naitan Nandes, a regular starter during the qualifiers and an important part of Bielsa's system, is not among the invited players. His absence is the most notable detail of the Uruguayan roster, especially since the coach has remained faithful to the expected core of the team in most other lines.

Additionally, Luis Suarez is not on the list. Although his international career has long since entered its final chapter, every major tournament for Uruguay without one of the best strikers the country has ever had carries a special symbolism.

Uruguay will rely on a generation led by Federico Valverde, Ronald Araujo, José María Jiménez, Manuel Ugarte, Rodrigo Bentancur and Darwin Núñez at the World Cup. It is a group that combines experience, strength and Bielsa's idea of intense football.
