At the meeting, which followed a brief tour of the parliament, the two presidents stressed the importance of cooperation between small states, placing special emphasis on the overall relations between Montenegro and the Principality of Monaco.
"Although they have different development dynamics, the two countries share numerous similarities, primarily the fact that they are stable European states that want to bring together other small European countries around common values, but also to protect their interests in a world dominated by great powers," the statement said.
President Mandić reminded his colleague of their recent meeting in Geneva, but also of President Brez's official visit to Montenegro, which took place in February last year.
On that occasion, he emphasized that Montenegro's priority is to become a country of free, happy and wealthy people, as well as a state in which every citizen is safe and respected, and that he sees the Principality of Monaco as an exceptionally good example in that context.
"We believe that in the coming period, the secretaries general of our parliaments will prepare a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Parliament of Montenegro and the National Council of the Principality of Monaco. It is crucial that we continue the process of bringing small European countries closer together, because only in this way can we ensure a stronger voice and a more visible place within the broader international community, especially in these turbulent times," said Mandić.
The interlocutors emphasized that cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy is of exceptional importance and emphasized that a meeting of the two chambers of commerce in the near future would be of great benefit for the further development of cooperation in that area.
At the end of the meeting, President Mandić signed the Golden Book of the National Council and presented the host with a painting of the landscape of Crno Jezero, one of the natural gems that adorn Montenegro.
