The new bridge over the Morača River will be 114.94 meters long, with two traffic lanes and two pedestrian lanes. The project is part of the ongoing construction of Vojislavljevića Boulevard in Zabjelo. The bridge will connect the banks of the Morača River at the exit from Podgorica towards Nikšić, right next to the existing one.
"It is a so-called composite structure where the basic steel structure is on the bottom, and the reinforced concrete pavement slab is on top. All of this together functions as a single cross-section, in which we have a steel part on the bottom and concrete on the top," said civil engineer Dr. Dusko Lucic.
The existing bridge, which was opened to traffic in the late 1970s, will get a new look, Lučić points out.
"And to change its traffic characteristics a little, to change the ratio of pedestrian paths," emphasizes Lučić.
The two bridges will be identical in terms of traffic geometry, our interlocutor says. However, the relationship between the structures and the way they will be connected will be interesting and represent an innovation in bridge construction in the region.
"It is the so-called "river bridge" where it climbs a winding water structure that connects two bridges, in the Moračka pebbles, which is a connection with our geography, climate, ambiance, and with the water that is key here, where this, combined with the lighting effects in the night view and with that unexpected detail when you come across the bridge, would give a special experience," says Lučić.
Lučić says that the project also includes the development of the space under the bridges, which could be a place for concerts, exhibitions or a cafeteria. Let us remind you that the tender for the selection of the builder of the bridge in the extension of Vojislavljević Boulevard is underway, and the value of the project is 7,320,500 euros.
