According to the Internal Control report, most inspections did not reveal any irregularities, but in some cases serious shortcomings in the work of police officers were identified.
"Based on the established facts and evidence, illegal or unprofessional conduct was found in four cases, for which measures within the jurisdiction were taken," the report states.
In one of the cases, an officer from Kolašin is charged with serious breach of official duty due to negligent performance of his duties, and the case was referred to the Director of the Police Directorate for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.
The most serious case was recorded in Bar, where a border police officer is suspected of the criminal offense of abuse of office. Criminal charges have been filed against him, at the prosecutor's office's order.
"A criminal complaint has been filed against the police officer on suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Article 416 of the Criminal Code," the document states.
Irregularities were also found among officers in Nikšić, where serious violations of official duty were recorded, including abandonment of duty, as well as violations of the Code of Police Ethics. A similar epilogue has been found in the case from Podgorica, where there is suspicion of omissions that made it difficult to perform police duties.
In the remaining 10 controls, there was reportedly no evidence of illegal police action.
When it comes to citizen complaints, there were 10 during March, and they mainly related to the way police powers were applied.
Elements of disciplinary liability were established in three cases.
"In one case, there is a basis for suspicion that a police officer in Podgorica negligently performed his official duties, which is why the case was submitted to the prosecutor's office for further assessment," the report states.
In Ulcinj, a case of irregular and untimely preparation of official documentation was recorded, while in Danilovgrad, a violation of the code of ethics was recorded.
For the remaining seven complaints, there was insufficient evidence to point to the responsibility of police officers.
