As announced by his Cabinet, Vuković thanked Hungary for its continued partnership from the very beginning of the accession process, emphasizing that it has particular significance in the current, final phase of European integration.
"He pointed out the significant presence of Hungarian companies on the Montenegrin market, especially large and successful investors, and expressed his expectation of their further expansion, with a simultaneous growth in trade and an increase in the number of tourists from Hungary to Montenegro," the statement said.
Ambassador Hetei congratulated the formation of the working group for drafting the Treaty on the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union, assessing this step as an important signal of progress in the negotiation process. He emphasized that Montenegro represents a positive example in the region, confirming that, through dedicated and comprehensive reforms, the goal of full membership can be achieved.
"He also emphasized that he expects further improvement of traditionally good bilateral and economic relations, through more intensive dialogue and stronger economic cooperation," the statement added.
Also, during the meeting, the importance of concluding intergovernmental agreements was emphasized, which raise cooperation to a higher, strategic level and open up space for new investment initiatives. It was also noted that the establishment of a Wizz Air base in Podgorica represents a significant step forward in better connectivity with European destinations, with a strong incentive for the development of tourism and business.
"The interlocutors agree that relations between Montenegro, as the first subsequent EU member state, and Hungary are entering a new phase, which should be marked by even more significant results, stronger economic ties and an additionally strengthened political partnership," the statement concludes.
