"The consultation brought together around 100 businessmen - members of the Union of Employers of Montenegro, with the aim of getting to know more closely the provisions of the Labor Law, which was published in the Official Gazette on April 15, as well as the innovations that this regulation brings into practice. The new legal solutions were presented by representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue, Anđela Bašović, State Secretary, Irena Joksimović, Acting Director General of the Labor Directorate, and Marko Ćipović, Independent Advisor I at the Labor Directorate," the Employers' Union stated.
They pointed out that the adopted amendments represent an important step in harmonizing labor legislation with the acquis communautaire, especially within Chapter 19 - social policy and employment. The law is aligned with relevant EU directives regulating work-life balance, transparent and predictable working conditions, equal pay, adequate minimum wages, as well as the right of employees to information and consultation.
"The amendments further regulate transparent and predictable working conditions, through a more precise definition of rights and obligations arising from employment, including issues of probationary work, overtime work and employment security, as well as strengthening the protection of employees in exercising their rights," the statement said.
The event was followed by an open discussion, during which business people had the opportunity to ask questions and receive specific answers from representatives of the Ministry and MEF, which resolved numerous dilemmas regarding the application of the Labor Law in everyday business.
"UPCG will continue to organize similar activities in the coming period, with the aim of timely informing its members in the process of adapting to new legal solutions in order to ensure their adequate and consistent implementation," they conclude in the statement.
