The First Corporate Law Summit: Between Regulations and Practice – Where Key Business Challenges Arise

Prvi samit
The Montenegrin economy is entering a phase in which the legal framework is no longer a formality – but a key business variable. In the process of intensive harmonisation with the European Union legal framework, the way in which laws are applied is becoming as important as what they prescribe, the AMM Academy announced.

In practice, they state, the difference between what the law prescribes and how it is applied often means the difference between a successful investment and a business risk.

"In such an environment, the key question is no longer what the law says - but how it works in real business," the AMM Academy points out.

It is in this space between regulations and practice, they emphasize, that the most important business decisions – and the greatest challenges – arise.

"That is why, on April 2, at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, starting at 9:00 a.m., those we rarely get to see together will gather at the same table - executive directors, company management, lawyers and representatives of institutions. Not as formal participants of the Summit, but as people who shape the business environment from different positions," the AMM Academy states.

Where law meets practice

The panel that opens the question of the role of the legal function in companies will speak Nemanja Lakovic, executive director of the Pljevlja Coal Mine, Zoran Milovanovic, Executive Director of M:tel Montenegro, and Miroslav Pribilovic, an expert in corporate law, while the conversation will be moderated by Srdjan Sisic, Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs of One Montenegro.

A topic that has been gaining importance in recent years – management problematic claims – will be the focus of the discussion in which they participate Dejan Vukovic, regional NPL expert and investor, Drazen Stevanovic, Executive Director of ODM Assets Montenegro, Vlajko Zizic Director of NLB Banka's Problem Loan Management and Nikola Radojicic Head of Revenue Collection Service from Crnogorski Telekom, with moderation Andrijane Djurkovic Director of the CKB Bank's receivables collection department.

The panel dedicated to the Law on Business Companies and Corporate Governance Standards will bring together Dijana Raickovic, retired judge of the Court of Appeal, Renata Milutinović, M.Sc., Director General of the Directorate for Industrial and Regional Development of the Ministry of Economic Development, and Vanja Mugoša, lawyer, while the panel moderates Prof. Dr. Mijat Jocović, Dean of the Faculty of Economics. This conversation raises a very important question of modern business – whether the regulatory framework follows the needs of companies or remains at the level of formal compliance.

One of the most sensitive issues – relationship between law and real labor market needs – will be the topic of the panel they speak on Naida Nisic, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue, Zeljko Cicovic, executive director of Hotel Ami, and Danilo Nikovic, co-owner of the Regrut agency, moderated by prof. Dr. Mladen Perazić from the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro.

More from Summit – a business reality test

What makes the First Corporate Law Summit special is the fact that those who interpret and apply the law, and those who operate under it, sit at the same table. The focus is not on theory, but on issues that companies are already solving in everyday practice, according to the AMM Academy.

That is why this Summit is not just a space for conversation - but a platform on which issues that directly affect business results, investment decisions, and the long-term stability of companies are raised.

The summit is organized by the AMM Academy in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, with the support of the Association of Managers of Montenegro.
