Fudbaleri Bajern Minhena savladali su Real Madrid na "Santjago Bernabeu" (2:1) u prvoj utakmici četvrtfinala Lige šampiona.

The Bavarians thus ended a streak of nine consecutive matches in which they failed to win against their big rival.

The superclassic lived up to the expectations of fans of the most important side event in the world. It was an open match, with a lowered guard and plenty of chances (as many as 40 shots) but also misses on both sides, and in the end, a more satisfying rematch in Munich awaits Vincent Kompany's team.

The German giant was better in the first half, and the Spanish in the second half of the game.

The German champions started the match with a vengeance and were very close to taking the lead in the ninth minute. Dayo Upamecano had a shot, but he shot badly from three or four meters, and the ball was cleared off the goal line by Alvaro Carreras.

In the 16th minute, the home team finally got something going – Arda Guler brilliantly set up Kylian Mbappe, but Manuel Neuer positioned himself perfectly and prevented a sure goal.

Two minutes later, Vinicius Junior shot from the edge of the penalty area, but Neuer saved.

In the 28th minute, another big opportunity for the Bavarians. Young Thiago Pitač practically passed the ball to Serge Gnabry, who was alone, but Andrij Lunjin was up to the task.

A few tens of seconds later, Real made a good transition, Federico Valverde connected Mbappe with the goal, and the Frenchman looked for a further angle from the right side, but again Neuer was safe.

Four minutes before the mandatory break, Bayern took the lead. It was a checkmate in three moves. It all started with a bad pass from Vinicius, the ball reached Kane, who passed to Serge Gnabry, who passed through the middle to Luis Diaz, who made no mistake in a one-on-one situation.

Practically "from the locker room" the guests from Munich doubled their lead. Another mistake by Real, this time by Carreras who lost the ball in his own half, followed by Luka Pavlović who assisted Michael Oliseh, who laid the ball off for Harry Kane, and the Englishman with a precise first-time shot from about 18 meters checked Lunin. For Kane, this is the 11th goal of the season in the Champions League, and the 49th in 49 appearances, counting all competitions.

Olise could have made it 3:0 a minute later, but Lunjin covered the near corner well and deflected the ball into the corner.

In the 61st minute, Vinicius could and should have done better – Upamecano, in his desire to return the ball to Neuer, practically played past the Brazilian who had all the time in the world, and then only hit the outside of the net.

After that, Olise, in his usual style, entered the middle from the right, but shot just over the goal.

And then, in just two minutes, Mbappe had two colossal chances. The first was brilliantly handled by the phenomenal Neuer, and in the second, the French goal scorer was almost careless.

However, in the 74th minute, Mbappe finally scored. Trent Alexander-Arnold crossed brilliantly down the right, and the Madrid number ten passed the ball into the goal from close range. Neuer saved that too, but the ball went off the crossbar and went behind his back. Mbappe thus scored his 14th goal of the season and the Champions League, again "escape" Kane to plus three.

As soon as Bayern started from the center, Kane almost gave his team a two-goal advantage.

About ten minutes before the end of regular time, Vinicius shot once again, but straight at Neuer.

By the end of the game, both sides had one good chance – Musiala on one side and Mbappe on the other, but the result remained unchanged.

At the same time, Arsenal defeated Sporting in Lisbon by a narrow margin.

The decisive goal was scored by substitute Kai Havertz in the first minute of stoppage time after a masterful assist from Gabriel Martinelli.

There wasn't much excitement at "Jose Alvalade", it seemed that the net would remain untouched, but the German striker made sure that didn't happen.

Arsenal hit the frame of the goal in the 16th minute, more precisely Noni Madueke from a corner, and a little earlier Maximiliano Araujo hit the crossbar on the other side, the impression being that David Raja deflected the ball with his fingertips enough to keep it from ending up in the net.

Midway through the second half, the home team's net was shaken, but Martin Zubimendi's goal was disallowed due to Viktor Đokereš being offside at the start of the action.

At the end of the match, Geni Katamo threatened from the counterattack, but Raja intervened well once again, and then, in the manner already described, Mikel Arteta's team reached the "break".
