Paris Saint-Germain defeated Liverpool (2:0) at the Parc des Princes, while Atletico Madrid celebrated against Barcelona at the Camp Nou (2:0), on the second night of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

The current European champion dominated throughout the entire 90 minutes, so it can be said that the "Reds" did well tonight in the "City of Light".

PSG had 75 percent of the ball at their feet, 18 shots against only three from their rivals, 6-0 on target...

The home team took the lead in the 11th minute. Desire Due shot diagonally from the left inside the penalty area, the ball bounced off Ryan Gravenberh and tricked, or rather lobbed, Giorgi Mamardashvili.

In 14 matches in the knockout stages of the Champions League, Desiree Due was involved in 11 goals – scoring seven and providing four assists.

The "Saints" continued their attacks, and in the 32nd minute, Hvicha Kvaracheli threatened, but Mamardashvili saved.

Five minutes later, Due could have scored a second goal, but he didn't use the shot, or rather, the Georgian goalkeeper was up to the task again.

Before going on a long break, Usman Dembele and Joao Neves tried, but there was no change in the result.

In the 54th minute, Dembele had another chance, but he shot over the bar.

Midway through the second half, the "Saints" doubled their lead. Neves passed to Kvarachelia, who entered the penalty area, withstood the challenge, then dribbled past his national team teammate, Mamardashvili, and sent the ball into the unguarded net for what would become the final score of 2:0.

In the 70th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to PSG, but overturned the decision after receiving a call from the VAR room and reviewing the footage.

By the end of the game, Achraf Hakimi could have made it 3:0, but Mamardashvili made a great save, while Dembele hit the frame of the goal.

Atletico emerged victorious against Barcelona in their fourth match this year for the second time – tonight they enjoyed a 2-0 victory in Catalonia and gained a large lead ahead of the return match at their "Metropolitan" next Tuesday.

Cól's "warriors" thus ended the unreal streak of their rivals, who until tonight had 19 consecutive victories in front of their fans, counting all competitions. Also, this is Atlético's first triumph at the "Camp Nou" in two decades.

Like PSG, Barça had almost all statistical parameters on their side, but not the most important one on the scoreboard.

At 0-0, Hansi Flick's team was the more dangerous, with Marcus Rashford, Lamine Jamal and Gerard Martin threatening, but Juan Musso's goal remained untouched.

In practically a minute, a double win for the "colchoneros" – first in the 44th minute, Pau Cubarsi "red" (for a foul on Giuliano Simeone) after Istvan Kovac first showed him a yellow card, and then after reviewing the video, sent him to the locker room. Atletico immediately took advantage of the extra player – Julián Alvarez scored a fantastic goal directly from a free kick from about 20 meters for 1:0.

The Catalans dominated the opening 15-20 minutes of the second half despite being down a man. Rashford came very close to scoring in the 50th minute, Jamal connected with the goal, the latter went around the goalkeeper, but only hit the outside of the net.

Just three minutes later, the same player hit the crossbar from a free kick, or rather Muso deflected the ball onto the crossbar.

Shortly after, Gavi attempted a header after a corner kick, but Žil Kunde and Dani Olmo almost missed.

And then, practically out of nowhere, on their first foray into the opposition's goal in the second half, Atletico doubled their lead. Matteo Ruggieri crossed from the left, and substitute Alexandre Serlote slotted the ball into the net from five or six metres past Martin.

Barcelona set out to at least mitigate the defeat and score a goal that would help them before the second leg, and Cancelo was close to scoring, hitting the post, and Jamal's shot was neutralized by Musso.
