In the following statement, Primorac says that this is no longer just a matter of one match, but of the principles of fairness and legal certainty in sports.
We are publishing the statement signed by the president of the Kotor club, Siniša Kovačević, in its entirety:
"CAS has withdrawn. EA is increasing the pressure. What does that mean?"
CAS decided that it “did not have jurisdiction.” In other words, it did not want to examine whether the decision to move the match from Kotor was legal and based on the rules. This effectively left the club without international sports legal protection.
This has serious consequences. The EA decision remains in force, and Primorac is faced with an ultimatum: either to play under the imposed conditions or to risk serious punishments – a suspension from the competition for a few years and financial sanctions. This is not an equal position, this is pressure. We note that VPK Primorac is not only at this moment, but for exactly five years without any institutional support and assistance, more precisely – alone in everything.
It is particularly worrying that EA ordered the match to be played at 7pm before the CAS decision was officially announced. Such a move leaves serious room for doubt and raises the question of whether the outcome was known in advance. In addition, a second match was already scheduled at 6pm in the same pool, which makes the entire schedule organizationally absurd and shows an insistence on implementing the decision at all costs.
When an international sports court refuses to rule, and the umbrella organization simultaneously accelerates the implementation of the disputed decision, a clear message is sent – the club has nowhere to seek protection within the sports system. As responsible people, we have no right to play with the fate of the Club and the century-long effort of previous generations, nor with the future of generations to come.
The legal possibility exists before the regular courts in Switzerland, where the organization is headquartered. But this is no longer just a sporting issue – it is an institutional and state issue. Because if international sports institutions can make decisions with a political background without real judicial control, then the problem is much bigger than one match. This is not a fight for a match date. This is a fight for the right to fair trial and basic legal certainty in sport.
"We invite fans to come to Podgorica tonight at 7 pm and support VPK Primorac in one of the most important matches in the history of the Club!", the statement says.
