Italy national football team coach Gennaro Gattuso was predictably disappointed after his team was defeated by Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica in the final of the World Cup play-offs.

The "Azure" will thus miss their third World Cup in a row, which is a heavy blow for the four-time planetary champion.

"The boys didn't deserve this blow because of their play, effort and love. We had three great chances, it's a shame... this is football. I'm proud of my boys. It hurts, because this World Cup we were supposed to play in was important for us, for our families, for the whole of Italy and for our football system. This is a blow that is hard to digest for all of us," the popular Rino said through tears to "RAI" after the match.

The Italian bench repeatedly complained about the decisions of the main referee, Clemon Turpan.

"I don't want to talk about the referee, but football is like that - sometimes you're happy, sometimes you get hit. However, the team surprised me with their commitment on the field. I haven't seen a team with such heart in a long time. We could have scored a second goal, but now it doesn't mean anything anymore. We could have done more, but today we gave what we could. Situations punished us, we made mistakes like the red card, but the team gave everything," said Gattuso and added:

"I apologize for not being able to take Italy to the World Cup. It will take time to get over this blow, which is very difficult for me."

Media from the Apennines are writing that it is possible that Gattuso will be dismissed in the coming days.

"My future? It's not important to talk about it now, but it hurts, it hurts too much," concluded the temperamental Italian expert.
