The same rivals will meet again on Saturday in Nikšić.
These are tough tests for Mirko Marić's team, because the Czechs, along with the Welsh team, are the favorites for first place.
Nađa Stanović knows the Czech national team well, having been a player for two years for one of the country's two football giants – Slavia Prague. And she says that this is a team of great quality.
"Almost all the players are from Slavia and Sparta. They know each other well and are well-coordinated, they were in the A League last season for a reason. They are a very strong and serious team," says Stanović.
Montenegro opened their first appearance in the B tier of European football with two defeats. They lost to Albania in Nikšić, in a reversal of form 2:1, and then to Wales away 6:1, after a weak first half and a much better second half. The Czech Republic, on the other hand, played 2:2 with Wales at home at the start, and then were convincing against Albania away 5:1.
"I think the Czech Republic is a little better than Wales. This was also shown in their match, in which the Czechs dominated, created many dangerous situations and remained without a win in the final moments," Stanović points out.
Defeats at the start did not shake the atmosphere and confidence that our female football players gained by advancing to a higher rank, says Maša Tomašević, an Inter player.
"You don't feel that in training, I think we took the defeats in the right way, especially the one against Wales. Such matches happen, such defeats are an integral part of football. I think we learned a good lesson. Simply put, this is a higher level, the game is played much faster, we know that we have to be at the highest possible level if we want to compete. I believe we can do it," said Tomašević.
"It's clear that we have to be more aggressive than against Wales. We tried to be the best we could in that game, unfortunately we didn't show how much we know, but new games are coming, and every game is a new story and a new chance," concluded Stanović.
Head coach Mirko Marić has many problems ahead of two matches against the favorites. Due to injuries, Selma Ličina, Ivana Boričić and Andrea Janjušević, as well as goalkeeper Jovana Žugić, are missing.
Today's meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
