Montenegro wins the Second "Matija Šarkić" Memorial

The second edition of the Matija Šarkić Memorial Tournament brought 20 matches of players born in 2012 and later, which were played on the fields of the FSCG Training Camp in Podgorica... 

The second day of the Matija Šarkić Memorial Tournament brought eight new exciting matches, beautiful goals and moves that will remain memorable for the spectators and the tournament participants themselves.

The day began with matches between the teams that finished third and fourth in their groups yesterday – Antwerp defeated Wolverhampton 5-0, while Inter beat Aston Villa 4-0. Later in the day, Antwerp defeated Inter 4-0 to move into fifth place, while Wolverhampton, after a better penalty shootout against Aston Villa, moved into seventh place in the tournament.

In the semi-final matches, duels between the teams that took the first two positions in their groups during the first day of the tournament, Montenegro was better than Slovenia with a score of 2:1, while Tottenham qualified for the final after a better penalty shootout in the duel with Partizan.

The match for third place brought Partizan's triumph after a better penalty shootout performance in the match against the Slovenian national team. The final match, a duel between Montenegro and Tottenham, was decided by a goal in the last minute of the first half of the match - our team's defender, with a strong shot from more than 25 meters, checked the opposing goalkeeper.

The expert jury, chaired by Danilo Šarkić, selected the 11 best, including goalkeeper Nikola Vlahović (Montenegro), defenders Jaka Vojžem (Slovenia), Damjan Masudi (Antwerp), Džimo Usman (Aston Villa), Aldin Rastoder (Montenegro), midfielders Iman Vaki (Antwerp), Carter Thomas (Tottenham), Justi Fejzuk (Wolverhampton) and forwards Andrej Petrović (Partizan), Riccardo Giampieretti (Inter) and Semande Ekundajo (Tottenham).

A special award was given to Jordan Kandolo Manga, the Antwerp striker who suffered a broken leg during the first match of the tournament. Bojan Šarkić presented him with a jersey for the Montenegrin national team.

Partizan goalkeeper Dušan Žveglić was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament, Antwerp striker Darnel Licak Kabongo Kanda was named the best scorer, while Aldin Rastoder, left back of the Montenegrin national team, was named the best player.
