The Split-Dalmatia Police Department has warned citizens about increasingly sophisticated computer and other frauds, after several cases in which citizens were damaged for significant amounts of money were recorded in the area of ​​that police department in recent days.

Police say that computer fraud is becoming more sophisticated every year, and the material damage is increasing. They add that the financial gain from such fraud is also increasing, which they attribute to the increasing organization of the perpetrators.

Fake police officer asking for money

One of the recorded cases involves an 82-year-old woman who handed over 100,000 euros to an unknown man in mid-April 2026. According to the police, the man had previously introduced himself to her over the phone as a police officer and told her that the money in her account was the subject of an investigation and that she should hand it over to the police.
