As he pointed out, the municipal committees of the Democrats have freedom in conducting local politics, but in this case he believes that it would be wise for their local committee to carefully consider the political situation in Pljevlja.
He sees PES's decision to leave power in Pljevlja as a politically logical move.
"You cannot forever allow someone to abuse your tolerant attitude, thinking that your tolerance for the sake of stability is your weakness. The Democrats have a principled position that municipal boards have freedom in conducting local politics, but in this case I think it would be wise for our local board to carefully consider the political situation in Pljevlja," said Ćulafić.
As Ćulafić emphasized, it is no secret that there is a political disagreement between him and the President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš.
"The reason is solely his frivolous and irresponsible attitude towards the environment of Pljevlja, but also towards the environmental projects that he would have to implement in order to improve the situation in Pljevlja. After all, what is his job?" said Ćulafić, who also holds the position of Minister of Ecology.
He emphasizes that the ecological situation in Pljevlja was largely endangered by the inaction of local authorities, and primarily the mayor of the municipality of Vraneš, which he had previously informed the public about.
"I think it is irresponsible, to say the least, not to install filters in the boiler room, which were a basic technical requirement, and for more than a year. On the other hand, the state is expected to prevent air pollution, but nothing is done at the local government level. And then, due to personal irresponsibility, the mayor of Pljevlja resorts to a futile populist story that the state is not doing anything, and conceals the fact that even the money intended for environmental projects in the municipal budget was not used for environmental projects. And instead of bearing responsibility, he resorted to an attempt to conflict with me, and of course, remained 'short-sleeved'. But that is less important, what is more important is that he has not done anything serious in the meantime within the scope of his obligations," says Ćulafić.
