Councilor of the Party of European Progress in the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica, Ilija Mugoša, welcomed the closing of another negotiation chapter in the process of accession to the European Union, with the hope that Montenegro's European path and its full membership will remain the common goal of all political entities.

In a statement to the media, he said that the SEP wants to believe that the current political crisis, which is visibly slowing down the integration process, will soon have an epilogue.

"We expect those in power to work substantively, not just formally, on the adoption of the law, and to demonstrate our ability to respond to the obligations that await us," Mugoša said.

Membership in the European Union, in his opinion, is a strategic goal, but not the end of the process – it represents a new starting point in the history of Montenegro and opens up space for new challenges and responsibilities.

"We also believe that European integration should not be a means of gaining daily political points. The European Union is not just a political goal, but implies comprehensive progress – economic, social and community – which should bring concrete benefits to all citizens," they concluded.
